My GYN is also my Primary Care Physician - we have an HMO for our insurance plan & since I see a GYN more often than any other type of doctor, I figured this was easier.

Since I leave for Europe in less than a week, I made an appointment to go see the doctor and get a prescription for a new anti-motion sickness patch that I saw an ad for. I suffer from nausea on plane flights that are longer than 5 hours or so. I usually take meclizine (Dramamine) but it puts me to sleep & since I'm travelling alone this time, I didn't want to be in a drugged-out coma for my flight. This new patch claims that very few users experience drowsiness.

So, I went to the GYN yesterday for the Rx. I was glad that the doctor was a GYN because in the time since making the appointment I developed a problem.

I started my period, as was expected, on Friday, July 30th. It went as expected and by the following Tuesday was tapering off such that I could remove my Keeper. However, the "tapering off" never stopped. In fact, sometimes it was as red as first-day-of-my-period blood! Dangly & I made love twice during the week (remember, we've been sick!) and after both ocassions I had very bright red blood.

It was alarming, to say the least.

So, I was glad that I had an appointment with the GYN yesterday.

When I went in - and after getting the Rx for the anti-emetic med - I explained to him my symptoms and he decided to do a pelvic exam. He put in the speculum and then a swab which looked like a giant Q-tip. He swished it around a little bit and took it out to show me that it was not bright red, but "normal" end-of-period color. I agreed that it was, but pointed out that I had been alternating between that and bright red for several days, so he decided to look again. He got out his flashlight and the swab and watched while he poked.

He discovered that my cervix was bleeding in a few places and poking it made it worse. This makes sense, considering my experiences. Dangly is well-endowed and his penis does prod my cervix when we make love. But I had been having this problem before we had sex after my period, so I don't think he "ruptured" me or anything.

At any rate, the doctor decided to cauterize the bits of my cervix that were bleeding. I think it was a chemical cauterization because he asked the nurse for a packet of long sticks that had black tips. He used 2 of them on me (which did not hurt).

I asked what might cause such a thing to happen. He began, "Well, mature women sometimes..." I interrupted, "Oh no! Have I fallen into that category now?!?" He chuckled and said, "Actually 'mature' in this sense just means older than puberty, but younger than menopause," then went on to say that it's a normal occurance for some women and nothing really to be alarmed about.

He did give me a prescription for a progestin-like hormone, just in case it does turn out to be a problem with menstruation rather than lesions on my cervix. He advised me not to fill the Rx just yet, to give it a few days and see if the bleeding stops after the cauterization.

I asked him if there were any activities I needed to avoid after this treatment. He hesitated, then said, "Don't put anything in your vagina for 2 or 3 days." I must have given him a funny look because then he smiled and asked, "How's that for putting it politely?" I laughed.

Last night & this morning, I checked to see if there's any more discharge. There was a little bit yesterday, but this morning seems to be free and clear, so I hope it's over.

One thing that occured to me as I was leaving his office: When I removed my Keeper last Tuesday, there was a bit of a vacuum-lock & I just yanked it out anyway. I wonder if I scraped my cervix or something then?

Last night when we went to bed, I was horny, but under doctor's orders not to put anything in my vagina. Additionally, he will probably come with me as I go to my next destination to meet up with some mroe mutual friends, then take a train home the next day.

So, I'm hoping to have LOTS of stories to tell. All indications are that he's as shameless and enthusiastic as I am when it comes to sex!! Woo-Hoo!!

I have to wonder, though, if they're trying to convince me to spend my money on them, you'd think they'd have a freakin' system that works, wouldn't you?? I'm not willing to chance it with my wallet. I'd only pay for it if I knew that it wouldn't annoy the shit out of me while I'm using it.

In other news, a blast from the past! I found a note from F, my partner in the DP Experience , in my AFF inbox. He says,

So sorry I haven't been in contact w/you guys, I feel awful about it. I don't want you to think that I didn't have a great time b/c that's not the case. My life has been crazy and busy.... Please drop me a line if your not pissed off and hurt. I hope you're doing well and I'll explain later.

I wrote back and said, no I'm not pissed off and hurt; when he didn't reply to the first two messages I sent him, I figured he just wanted his privacy & I was respecting that. I mean, sheesh! I'm not a teenager anymore! I can handle a one-night stand. I was curious and am glad to hear that he's still alive. I also told him that if he wants to get together again, I'm all for that. I did have a great time with him, after all! ;-)

And in still other news, I chatted some more with my friend in Europe and have gotten so "tingly" that I've had to go "rub one out" twice today already. Dangly & I recently returned from a week-long business trip, but we came back with nasty colds and so have been sick for a week, too. :-(

I am leaving for a 3-week trip to Europe (sadly, without Dangly) very soon & will be spending a lot of time this week getting ready for that.

I hope to have some good stories from that trip. I'll be staying with friends as I travel about and have already opened the lines of communication with one friend, who tells me "Hmmm cunnilingus... my favourite pastime ....
